When it comes to food, I’m a foodie with the best of them. I had dreams of purchasing my KitchenAid and have found one of my happiest places is standing and prepping at my makeshift island. As a little girl it began with helping my mom with meals throughout the week. In college, I began to develop my own love for gathering and hosting. After Freshman year, we started a tradition of Friday night dinners, and the best holiday celebrations college kids could put together. Since then my love for meals and gathering friends has only grown throughout the years. On this gift guide, I’ve put together some of my absolute favorites for hosting and days spent in the kitchen, working on food for myself and others to enjoy.

As much as I love my job, running the studio, and the blog, I love working hard and playing harder. In 2016, I found myself grounded in town far more than I would have liked. Different business opportunities surfaced and kept my attention. For 2017, I quickly realized one of my goals was to take an adventure a month. Some could be local, while others would be far off, but more than anything it would mean finding rhythm, excitement, and joy in the days off. Getting lost and exploring in new cities, finding iPhone challenges, and investing in vacation are some of my favorite things. There are a few places on my list and couldn’t be more excited for them.

Confession: This is my favorite week of the year. The world is articulating hope, dreams, and moving forward. This magical and feels different. The visual noise and clutter from the holiday season have died down and a season of new beginnings has come forth. Last year, my word for the year was risk. Indeed, it was full of risk, stepping out into the unknown, and embracing the wild adventure that came with it. (You can read last year’s post here.)This year’s word is focus.
