Summer Heat, Fall Trends

We’ve all been there. You see a great piece of clothing. The price is right and it’s the perfect addition to your fall wardrobe. You’re so excited for the weather to cool off and debut your new piece. But then the fall weather doesn’t come. So you wait a bit more and then forget it. That cute oversized flannel is just going to have to work with hotter temps. You decide to wear it on a cool morning, but by the middle of the afternoon, you’ve had to change out.

Since living in Northern California, I’ve learned that fall around here means 98 degrees. I always long for the cool nature of fall to come, yet it doesn’t arrive until early December. What is a girl to do? Keep on reading for some tips and tricks for following fall fashion trends in the summer heat.

Find ways to incorporate and use light layers.

One of my favorite parts of fall is beginning to layer pieces for visual interest. Invest in a few light pieces that can layer and still remain lightweight. I love playing with lace bralettes, open backs, and lace skirted tanks. These fabrics are breathable and allow for air to travel freely. If you’re heading into some frigid AC, make sure to include a light jacket or flannel for layering.

Rethink the short.

Think past summer’s distressed cut offs with lace trim and embrace soft cottons, and replace them with olives, blush tones, and grays. Paired with a lightweight jacket and cotton tee, this look transitions into fall seamlessly.

Pick a solid fall trend to anchor your look.

I love following a few new fashion trends. This year be on the lookout for some incredible flare jeans, camouflage, 90’s slits, and the return of rich burgundies, grays, and blush tones. For these looks I chose a camo tee, a burgundy bralette, and beautiful plaid as the anchor points for putting together each outfit.
