SHORT STYLE WITH BRUMBY CLOTHING

When it comes to wearing trends, I’ve always found myself in a few categories. I either love it or find myself waiting for it to pass. This year, I’ve noticed a literal cycling of fashion from the 90’s. While high-waisted jeans and shorts are flattering to some, would it be possible to style them for a variety of occasions and fit any body type? When it comes to these shorts, I’m raving about them. Today on the blog, I’ve partnered with Brumby Clothing and I’m loving the looks we’ve come up with! By keeping the shorts a darker wash and with a button fly, I’ve found this trend to be more accessible and flattering than I once thought. Because these shorts are made from upcycled jeans, they’re worn in they have a great feel, rise, and look amazing.

Keep reading for 3 ways to style high-waisted shorts after the jump.

For the Office

When it comes to all of these looks, we’ve opted to keep a minimal and neutral palette. With a neutral color scheme, the looks can fit into a minimal capsule wardrobe and rotate in as a steady basic. Anchored by the black short, all of the layers added keep things light (with hot summer temps this is essential) and add visual interest with texture, pattern, and shine. In NorCal, office looks remain super casual. We live in a hot place and most corporate cultures keep things laid back. Blazers and a leather woven sandal are common pairings. To keep things professional for this look, we added a short chelsea boot with a stacked heel and a great leather tote. Every good office look has structure and a bit of extra polish. Our polish come through with a white button up with a soft embroidered pattern and a vintage silver watch with elegant scrolling. We think this a great look for attending meetings and staying true to your style throughout the day.

For the weekend

Most weekends around here are filled with play. Whether it means hikes, taking photographs, or throwing a fast outfit over a bathing suit by the lake, we work hard and play even harder. Most weekend looks have to span anything from adventures to water to early mornings at the market. This look meets the needs of any full weekend. Anchored by a horse tee, this look has a solid 90’s throwback and brings with it a bit of whimsy and quirk to the table. Paired with a black baseball hat, providing some perfect shade, and some black sneakers, it is a look that will span the long haul of any weekend.

Festival vibes

Summer means music festivals and loads of them. You want to stay cool, have a bit of coverage from the sun, and wear some great boho pieces. In reality, you’re also camping so this look gets fancy with layers of accessories. At the end of the day, you can pair down your look and layer on a woven blanket to stay warm. The leather combat boots will add the support your feet need for long days, but can easily come off when it is time to dance barefoot to some Avett Brothers. (We’ve been there. Nothing like dancing in the rain to the electric cello and banjo.) This mockneck crop top in taupe does a smart contrast and play on neutrals with an unexpected pairing of brown and black. We love how this shirt pops with any skin tone, but makes a summer tan look incredible. Adding a gold cuff, leather wrapped bracelet, wide brimmed hat, and bandana completes the look. Bring on the music filled days and naps under the summer sun. We’re ready.
