A Rustic Christmas Tablescape

Create your own rustic tablescape this holiday season.

While I love festive holiday touches, I have come to prefer simpler, rustic elements that blend with fresh flowers and foraged finds. With this in mind, I built an approachable table that can be used for a variety of events throughout the holiday season.

Supplies:

  • 2 1/2 yards of a classic red plaid (varies based on table length)
  • Fabric scissors or the sharpest pair you have
  • 4 Birch round slices and pillars (purchased at Michaels)
  • White votive candles
  • White Pillar candles
  • Foraged greenery
  • Christmas centerpiece (click here)
  • Instagram place cards (click here)

To begin I cut the fabric in half to create the width of the runner. On a standard width of fabric (44/45″), this will create a runner that is 22″ wide. To save some money, I opted to create a runner with two pieces of fabric that overlap. Due to the rustic nature of the centerpiece, I didn’t hem or sew the pieces. Once you have the runner laid down, add the foraged greenery to the center of the table. You can also include twigs to add a greater sense of depth to the tablescape. Place your centerpiece in the middle. Add birch rounds and pillars. Set candles and votives on top. Set the table and add your napkins with place cards to the top of the plate.

May your holiday be filled with intentional times of family and friends surrounding a beautiful table, glass of wine, and delicious food.
