ROAD TRIP: 5 ALBUMS FOR THE OPEN ROAD

With the onset of July, means it’s time to escape Redding and the summer heat. For most of us that means taking day adventures. Whether heading west to the coast or higher in elevation to avoid the heat, it’s time to hit the open road, leave town, and embrace the freedom that summer provides. These are the 5 albums you’ll find on repeat for our road trips this summer. Regardless of whether folk, indie tunes are more your jam or pop is a bit more your vibe we have something for everyone.

The Firewatcher’s Daughter by Brandi Carlile: I was first introduced to Brandi Carlile while on a road trip in Colorado. While adventuring the Rockies her Bear Creek album made it’s way into my heart. Her latest release takes a more mature take on her signature folk sound.

25 by Adele: Adele simply had to be on the list. There are moments on road trips where you just need to roll down the windows, belt out tunes at the top of your lungs, and laugh hysterically with your friends when you don’t hit the notes perfectly. Adele always provides great songs for the karaoke sections of the trip.

True Sadness by The Avett Brothers: I have always been a huge fan of the Avett Brothers. With this album, they take their typical tongue and cheek lyrical expression of life’s experiences. For the long afternoon hours on the road, where the road is long and the destination seems even farther, this album will let the time pass by.

I Forget Where We Were by Ben Howard: Ben Howard is a road trip classic. Imagine taking in the beauty of the surrounding scenery, breathing in the fresh air, and embracing the adventures any road trip holds.

Wish I Was Here: A great compilation from an Indie film, it stands as a great album for chilling out and embracing the long, sun-filled hours of summer.
