Lavender Sweetened Cold Brew

It’s that time of year again. With temperatures escalating into the mid 90s, Redding is in the state of an endless summer. As an avid coffee drinker, my morning ritual of coffee tends to lean toward iced drinks when it gets hot outside. Lately I’ve been loving the spring taste of lavender and have been frequenting coffee shops often for these flavors. Trying to save a bit of money, I’ve learned to make my favorite at home. It is the perfect sippable perk whenever you need it throughout your day. Keep on reading for the full recipe!

Lavender Sweetened Cold Brew

yield: 1 16 oz iced serving

Ingredients:

For the cold brew:

  • 1/3 C of ground coffee
  • 1 1/2 C of water
  • ice cubes
  • almondmilk or milk of choice

For the lavender syrup:

  • 1 C  water
  • 1 C sugar
  • bud of lavender

Directions

Place coffee grounds and water in a french press. Allow grounds to sit in water at least 8 hours or overnight in the fridge. Meanwhile, bring water to boil in medium sauce pan over the stove. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Remove from heat. Add bud of lavender and let sit for 15-20 to meld the flavor together. Let cool. Remove lavender bud. Store in glass jar.

To serve: Remove french press from the refrigerator. Press press down leaving grounds in the bottom. Fill glass with ice. Add 1-2 T of lavender syrup depending on taste. Fill glass 3/4 full with cold brew concentrate. Dilute with almond milk or your milk of choice. Stir. Add straw, sip, and enjoy.
